Inclusive, Sustainable FSM – Towards a Transformative Future

Facilitated by Australian Government Water for Women Fund // Centre for Advocacy and Research // International Development Enterprise (iDE) // University of Technology Sydney (UTS) // International Rescue Committee (IRC) // Research Triangle Institute (RTI) Global India // SNV Netherlands Development Organisation // Thrive Networks – East Meets West

SDG6 targets safely managed sanitation leaving no one behind by 2030. With universal access and increasing frequency of ‘natural’ disasters, FSM is critical for a healthy, sustainable future. In resource constrained contexts, the current picture is far from this ideal, so how do we get there? This session will explore a transformed future and steps required to achieve effective and sustainable FSM from 3 perspectives:

  1. Inclusive FSM in terms of access to services and management,
  2. Effectively operating FSM systems with governments and private sector working collaboratively,
  3. FSM systems are adapted to/ resilient to climate change.
